The International Cat Association

The International Cat Association recognizes 73 breeds, many of which will be
participating in our event, along with non-pedigreed (often rescued) kitties called Household Pets and Household Pet Kittens.

Photos and descriptions of these breeds, as well as upcoming breeds seeking acceptance in TICA, can be found on the TICA website.

Come to our Kitties ‘n Blooms show April 18-19, 2026 to experience many of these breeds, as well as household pets and rescue cats and kittens in person!

Since April 2015, the TICA Cat Show Guide has been given out at the entrance to the show. This guide has descriptions of breeds recognized by TICA, so you can learn about all your favourite cats at the show. Thank you for joining us. Enjoy the show!

Mini Events
Three years ago, one of our invited TICA Judges, Steve Lawson, requested to present the three forest breeds at our event, which was hugely popular, drawing in hundreds of people gathering to learn and experience the similarities and differences between Maine Coons, Norwegian Forest Cats, and Siberians. We’re thrilled he’s back with us again this year, eager to present on these three magnificent breeds affectionately donned our Gentle Giants.

That request sparked an idea, so we invited a second TICA Judge, Brenda Russo, scheduled for that same year to present Meet the Breeds, which was similarly popular, drawing in hundreds of people gathering to learn and experience the unique features of many diverse cat breeds participating in our event. And we’re thrilled she’s also back with us again this year, eager to delve into the similarities and differences in the stunning blue-eyed pointed cats of TICA.

After the resounding success of those first two Mini Events in their inaugural year, we decided to give our wonderful Calgarians what you clearly love – more time learning from our expert (mic’d) TICA Judges demonstrating similarities, differences, and key features of myriad cat breeds with real show cats in real time. We’re ecstatic!

You do not want to miss out on our four lunch-time Mini Events this year!

On Saturday during our scheduled 1 hour lunch break

  • Join us in Ring 3 to experience esteemed TICA Judge Rob Seliskar will be presenting Tabby Cats: Stripes & More
  • Join us in Ring 5 to experience esteemed TICA Judge Steve Lawson presenting Forest Cats: Maine Coon, Siberian, & Norwegian Forest Cat

On Sunday during our scheduled 1 hour lunch break

  • Join us in Ring 3 to experience esteemed TICA Judge Kim Chenault presenting Meet the Breeds: Beauty in Variety
  • Join us in Ring 6 to experience esteemed TICA Judge Jay Bangle presenting Pointed Cats: TICA’s Blue-Eyed Beauties

Note: If you are an Exhibitor who would be happy for your kitty to participate in one (or more) of these lunchtime Mini Events, once you have received your Show Catalogue and noted your kitty’s assigned number a day or two before the event, please email our Mini Events Coordinator with your kitty’s breed and catalogue number. Each Judge has indicated the breeds they would like to highlight for their presentation, so our Mini Events Coordinator will be connecting with Exhibitors throughout each morning to solidify the line-up of participating show kitties for that days’ events. Thank you for bringing your precious kitties to participate in Kitties ‘N Blooms this year and for your willingness to participate in our Mini Events.
